I beat my brother in law at something

I am back in the game. In May I started this blog, solely for the purpose of responding to another blog (firejoemorgan.blogspot.com) which turned out not to work anyway. Shortly after creating the blog I lost the username and sign-in, making the blog almost entirely useless. Finally, I have been rescued from obscurity and I have recovered my important information, so here are a couple of significant occurrences in the last couple of weeks and upcoming:
1. My brother-in-law Christian now has a blog, it is exactly a day old. The good news about this is that I beat him to the punch, as I have had my blog for soooooooooooo much longer. And yes, everything is a competition with us. Except for holiness, thats not even close- he destroys me in the who is more holy department. He's not even snobby about it, all the worse.
2. Following the lead of Bill Simmons, and also trying to understand a culture better, I have now picked a favorite Mexican Soccer League team to follow- Club America. It was sort of an ill-informed decision, but I am nothing if not stubborn and loyal, so even when I read that they were the New York Yankees (aka the Prince of Darkness himself) of the Mexican Soccer League, it was just too late to take it back. Go Eagles! (I'll learn that in Spanish, the chant too)
3. My wife and I purchased a washer and dryer. I mention this as much as a confession of our consumerism as anything else. My Mother always said anything worth doing is worth doing well, and I can only assume she included consuming and purchasing, and in that regard we did well I think. Chesterton on the other hand was somewhat famous for noting "Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly... because it is the doing itself that is crucial, not the quality." I believe Chesterton's way is better, and I believe I have failed him by doing a poor thing well.
4. I begin a class at Fuller Seminary on Postmodernism on Monday. I still have no place to stay. So if you know of anyone, unless you are a serial killer or rapist (and maybe even then if you could take a two week sabbatical from those activities), that would let me stay with them I would very much appreciate it.
5. My best friend Phil is getting married in a week, and I am estatic. God is good.

Please pray for peace.
