Friday Afternoon-ish

Running Diary of Man Weekend (cont.)

10:35am Nerf Basketball Game and Room clean up. Loads of fun here, ending with the boys playing each other and the room being mostly clean.

11:10am Well earned trip to McDonalds for some lunch. My plan was to grab lunch, hit the grocery store, and then go rent the original Star Wars Trilogy. As it turns out (providentially I suppose) we ran into a priest friend, who is the senior rector at St. David’s in town. We had a good time chatting and letting our kids run in the park. Their son Josh is only 2, and mostly signs words right now. None the less our son Josh taught him how to say “sweet” while throwing a “inja turtle” from the slide. The great reward, besides the nice conversation, it turns out Father James lives near us and has the whole collection of Star Wars films. We follow him to his house, borrow the DVD’s and get rained on in a freak torrential pour while we run to the van. All of this to say, Man Weekend is shaping up quite nicely so far. Of the $50 budgeted for the weekend I still have $40 left, had lunch and got the movies. As Josh likes to say, “Sweet.”

1:37pm Returned home from lunch and picking up the movie. Calvin laid down for his nap and I have finally started to work on my sermon. So far it is coming fairly quickly (a very good sign). This sermon is the second part of a two part series, so much of my pre-work was already done, which has helped a ton.

2:31pm Calvin is now awake. Pop corn is popped, lights are and “A New Hope” is about to begin. May the force be with you.
