The Best Team in Baseball

I mentioned in this space, just over a month ago, that the Brewers were poised to make a run at the playoffs this year and that if everything fell right they were a really good team. It turns out that they are in fact a really, really good team, with the best record in baseball. They have depth everywhere, they have managed to stay healthy and through a scheduling glitch have just completed 22 straight games with division opponents. They dominated those 22 games, with JJ Hardy hitting everything in sight, Prince Fielder catching fire, and Capuano, Suppan and our bullpen steadying out. Its a long season, but we have an excellent mix, and the best part is, we are winning without our entire lineup playing well. Bill Hall and Rickie Weeks have gotten off to a slow start, but you would have to expect them to come around, so while Hardy and Fielder may not stay this hot, over the long haul it should even out. A really good article on mlb.com about the ways the Brewers are changing the culture in Milwaukee, pretty good stuff on how a Wisconsin sports fan's brain and wardrobe work.
In other news, the T-Ball Brewers of Capital Park Little League are rapidly approaching the end of the season, and its fun to see that some of the players have gotten better over the season. There is still plenty of playing in the dirt, not watching the batter and just general day dreaming, but a few of the kids are really starting to figure out how baseball works, which is fun.

Don't forget Francisco "CoCo" Cordero! It's amazing how many Brewers jerseys are popping up on campus these days.

Now that the Rocket has landed we just need Bonds to get his theft over and done with and then MAYBE ESPN and co. will give the Brew Crew some love.

So, am I right in assuming that once the community gets settled that season tix will be a part of the community budget?
