Running Diary of Man Weekend (cont.)
5:45am Woke up. Didn’t sleep well, nervous about Abby and Colette making their flight.
6:45am Stunned by the traffic on the way to the airport. 410 is packed. Highly unusual for this time of day. We finally get to the airport, Abby and Colette head to the terminal.
7:15am The boys and I open a box of Cookie Crisp I had been saving for a special occasion.
7:30am Cartoon marathon begins. I skip the first leg to hit the showers and catch a cat nap. Funny name for that, I hardly feel cat-like.
8:17am Thunderstorms start. In the first two hours of the First Annual Man Weekend (Here after FAMW or possibly 98.7) we have had ridiculous traffic, a crazy gackle of birds and now thunderstorms. Ominous? Nah.
8:35am First round of Crushers. Crushers is a game I invented where Josh stands at the door, and Calvin stands at the couch (approximately 3 feet apart), they run at each other while I throw a football. Calvin’s job is to stop Josh from catching it (3 points for that), or tackle him if Josh does catch it (1 point for that). If for some reason Calvin catches it or recovers a fumble and scores a touchdown (11 points for that). Josh’s is job is to catch the ball (1 point) and score touchdowns (6 points). Last night we kept score for the first time and Calvin won by about 25 points which made me begin to rethink the scoring system. This morning with the same scoring system, Josh won handily 51-34. Score overall, Josh 1 and Calvin 1. No change to the scoring system yet.
