Saturday Morning

Running Diary of Man Weekend (cont.)

7:15am I am awake. Rough night of sleep, I think I woke up about nine times. Cartoon morning, very excited. Higglytwon Heroes on a musical level is so much better than all the other shows (mad props to They Might Be Giants). Also JoJo may have the most annoying cartoon voice, which is quite the accomplishment.

9:00am Josh managed to clog their bathroom toilet, which prompted a half an hour search for the plunger. Things only got worse after we found it. Man weekend…ahhh.

9:45am Three links I “discovered” while trying block the pain of the toilet fiasco. First, if you have not seen the end of last night’s Raptors vs. Wizards game it is officially the craziest thing I have seen on a basketball court (even harder to believe than Sheed’s ¾ court shot). Highlights on www.espn.go.com then follow Raptors Wizards highlights.

Second, I just heard a new song from one of my favorite punk/rock bands Brand New. Its called “Jesus Christ” and on my first few listens sounds really, really, good. Melodically it’s a bit hard to listen to (which is ironic, because normally they are great) but lyrically the song is quite good. Also, I highly recommend “The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows.” I think they understand sin well as band. Redemption is always elusive for them. Also the end of this song reminds me of a John Calvin quote, "The heart is an idol factory." www.myspace.com/brandnew

Third is a comedian I caught clips of between games and writing my sermon last night, his name is Josh Sneed and he is hilarious. It bits on NASCAR and Bob the Builder are gold. I can’t vouch for the rest, I haven’t heard them. Here’s his NASCAR bit: http://www.comedycentral.com/motherload then click on Comedy Central Presents Josh Sneed.

10:48am What a good time for us to leave for team pictures and the ensuing game. More later.
