Sunday

Running Diary of Man Weekend (cont.)

7:15am A wonderful surprise when I woke up, Josh was already in his church clothes. Excellent start to Sunday of Man Weekend.

8:15am We are off to church on this beautiful Palm Sunday.

9:15am Sunday School was packed, we had like 16 kids, 4 of them I am not sure I had ever seen before. Crazy.

10:36am When Pastor Robert asked the kids what today is, Josh answered, “April Fools Day!” These are the proud moments that make Fatherhood so rewarding.

12:45pm I have officially decided to skip the softball game today, I am just too tired, and I think the allergies might be back. Instead, we are going to crash at home and watch a little “Return to the Jedi” as Calvin is fond of calling it.

1:37pm My favorite scene of any movie maybe ever, it’s a close race between the Picket Fence in Hoosiers and the Crane Kick in Karate Kid, just happened and I am still giddy. Luke jumps off the plank, spins, grabs the plank and springs himself into a forward flip while catching the light saber shot to him by R2D2. Amazing! I know its one of my favorites, because like the other two on my list it meets two requirements 1. I have personally tried to do this move, several times. I have been kicked off the diving board at at least two local pools for attempting this move. 2. I watched this move in slow motion over and over again. This point is actually what gives the Flip the nod over the Crane Kick, because in slow motion the Crane Kick is lacking to put it nicely, but the Flip never loses anything at whatever speed. Calvin loved the scene!

4:00pm Youth start showing up, so we head out to grab some Slurpees. This point should be filed under- Don’t let me complain about my job too much.

7:30pm Youth Nite went well, we had about ten total and our discussion of Holy Week went well. Josh and Calvin did great, and they had a blast. They should sleep well tonight. Which reminds me, I really need to finish my sermon, and I am beat. We’ll see which “need” wins.

9:30pm In a surprise win, my “need” for cookie dough is the upset winner. I am not sleeping and have not finished my sermon, but I am stuffing into my body vital nutrients in the most tasty possible way, and watching baseball. Now I am going to bed.
